Macif has announced ambitious new commitments while publishing an ESG-Climate report.
The French mutual insurer is aiming for a 50% reduction in the carbon footprint of its assets, from 2022 to 2030.
Macif has defined the decarbonisation trajectory of its property assets and is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of this property by 17% from 2019 to 2030.
The insurer has also announced an implementation of commitment and exclusion measures for companies responsible for serious violations of the United Nations Global Compact
Furthermore, the insurer has also stated it will continue a commitment to the professional inclusion of young people in vulnerable situations, in the companies in which it invests. This commitment, initiated at the end of 2022, concerns 60 French companies and focuses on three areas – recruitment, careers and training and quality of employment contracts.
This will take place in several stages, until 2025 and will include in particular the establishment of an in-depth dialogue with the companies presenting the least advanced commitments.
Director of investments at Macif, Sabine Castellan Poquet, said: “Our actions for the climate and the protection of biodiversity are at the heart of our strategy and our commitments. As a committed institutional investor, it is our duty to conduct an ambitious and rigorous investment policy, but also to dialogue and support the companies that need it in order to achieve together the development of a more fair and more sustainable.”
