Germany’s largest public insurer and seventh largest primary insurer, Versicherungskammer Group, has joined the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA), and committed to making its investment portfolio climate-neutral by 2050.

Versicherungskammer currently manages an investment volume of around €60bn.

CFO Andreas Kolb said joining the NZAOA is “a logical consequence in order to further shape our risk/return profile appropriately” and to “fulfil our social and ecological responsibility in an even more targeted manner”.

He added: “The Ukraine crisis is significantly accelerating the goal of decarbonisation. We must reduce dependence on gas and oil.”
