US asset manager to manage $6bn tranche of Assurant’s general account

Voya Investment Management (Voya IM), the asset management business of US insurance company Voya Financial has announced it has been selected by Assurant to manage a $6bn tranche of Assurant’s general account.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Assurant’s management team to ensure we help them meet their long-term investment needs and objectives," said Michael Pagano, head of insurance portfolio management, Voya Investment Management.

"Our expertise in asset- liability management, developing specialty asset classes that deliver long-term performance, and our history and success in managing general accounts, including our own, is core to our focus as an asset manager."

"Voya Investment Management’s experience and expertise make them an ideal partner to manage these assets going forward," said Richard Dziadzio, chief financial officer, Assurant.

Voya Investment Management manages, as of 31 March 2020, more than $210bn for affiliated and external institutions as well as individual investors.
