Nippon Life has made a syndicated loan agreement valued at ¥950m with Sumitomo Chemical Company.
The loan is Nippon Life’s first transition loan and is intended to support the efforts by companies that are steadily reducing greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with their long-term strategies for the realisation of a carbon-free society.
Funds raised by the loan will be used for development of a LNG power generation facility on the premises of Sumitomo Chemical’s Chiba Works. As a result, a gradual energy conversion from petroleum coke to LNG will be promoted, and it is expected to reduce GHG emissions by 240,000 or more tonnes per year.
