Italian insurers’ life/non-life investments rise 6.4% to €733bn

Life and non-life investments managed by Italian insurance companies amounted to €733bn in June 2019, up 6.4% compared to the same period of 2018.

According to the Institute for insurance supervision, IVASS, as at 30 June 2019 Italian insurance companies had a total SCR of €56.5bn, with an increase of +2.4% compared to the first half of 2018 and +2.5% compared to the closing of the 2018 financial year.

Insurance companies that adopt internal models recorded a SCR ratio of 233% by mid-2019 (249% at June 2018). Those that adopted a standard formula recorded an SCR of 218% (216% in 2016).
