Aviva’s operating profits surged by 35% to £2.2bn in 2022.

Commenting on the insurer’s annual results, CEO Amanda Blanc said the insurer is making “excellent progress” in achieving its goals “despite significant market volatility” as the firm said it underwrote £9.75bn worth of premiums in 2022, up 8% on 2021.

A 15% increase in life insurance sales was recorded, and an 8% increase in general insurance sales.

Aviva’s long-term investment return in UK & Ireland increased by £43m due to yields from investment in corporate bonds.
