Total assets of China’s insurers and insurance asset managers rise by 6.2% to RMB 43.9trn

Total assets of insurers and insurance asset management companies in China amounted to RMB 43.9trn as of the end of Q2 2026, up by 6.2% from the beginning of the year, latest figures from the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA) have shown.

Assets of P&C insurers hit RMB 3.4trn, up by 8.4%; assets of personal insurers reached RMB 38.7trn, up by 6.2%; assets of reinsurance companies reached RMB 879bn, up by 2.5%; and assets of insurance asset management companies were RMB 149.1bn, up by 2.4%.

As of the end of 2026 Q2, the comprehensive solvency ratio of the insurance sector was 180.6%, and the core solvency ratio was 133.5%, both higher than the regulatory requirements of 100% and 50% respectively.

The comprehensive solvency ratios of P&C insurance companies, personal insurance companies and reinsurance companies were 247.0%, 169.7% and 213.2% respectively, and the core solvency ratios were 214.3%, 119.6% and 188.2% respectively.
