Total US P&C net premiums written rise 11.2%

Total US P&C net premiums written rose 11.2% to $852.92bn in 2023, according to AM Best.

No. 1 State Farm Group’s growth outpaced the overall industry’s, rising 19.1% to $92.6bn.

Among the 10 largest writers, Nationwide P&C Group posted the greatest increase with net premiums written up 27.6% to $19.11bn.

Six of the 10 largest writers had double-digit increases last year, including No. 3 Progressive Insurance Group, where NPW rose 20.4% to $61.49bn.
