Italian life and non-life premium income down 6.5% to €100.2bn

Total life and non-life premium income in the Italian insurance market was €100.2bn in September 2020, a decrease of 6.5% compared to September 2019.

According to IVASS, the decrease is largely attributable to the life business (-8.0%) which is the main one in the Italian insurance market with premiums of € 73.4bn.

New business in the life sector decreased by € 5.3bn (-9.3%) compared to first nine months of 2019.

Non-life premiums, equal to €26.9bn, are down by 2.2%.
