HDI Global has appointed Christian Wegener as head of investment management.
Wegener will be tasked with further optimising HDI Global’s risk-adjusted returns, refining the asset allocation process, and ensuring effective oversight of the company’s global foreign currency hedging operations and collateral management processes.
Prior to joining HDI Global, Wegener worked as an investment and financial risk professional at leading financial institutions across Europe and Asia. Most recently, he worked with the HSBC Group in London, where he oversaw the investment activities of HSBC’s life insurance entities in Latin America, Europe, and India, after serving as the chief investment officer for HSBC in China. Wegener began his professional journey in the insurance industry with the AXA Group, working in Cologne, Paris, and Hong Kong.
“I am very happy to have Christian joining our team, and I am confident that his international experience and investment expertise will be a valuable addition to our investment community and our own performance. I wish him every success in his new role,” CFO, Stefan Pasternak, commented.
Wegener succeeds Thorsten Wölbern, who takes on new challenges within the company after 15 years in this role.
