Gothaer is expanding its portfolio to include investments in natural capital, with the first investment being $100m in the Natural Capital Fund.
With a target volume of $1bn, the Natural Capital Fund is one of the largest fund concepts for natural capital. The fund plans to invest in sustainable agriculture and forestry in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
“By natural capital, we mean sustainable investments, so-called impact investments, which make a positive contribution to sustainability,” Alina vom Bruck, CEO of Gothaer Asset Management AG, said.
“The focus is on reducing CO2 and increasing biodiversity. Our current objective are investments that are classified in accordance with Article 9 of the EU Disclosure Regulation. There are currently only very limited investment opportunities in the market. With the conversion of areas into sustainable agriculture and forestry, we are taking the first step and not only reducing existing CO2 emissions, but also making a positive contribution to biodiversity through new or processed areas.”
