Finnish pension insurance company, Veritas, has reported a record-high return of 6.9% in the second quarter of 2026.
Its half-year report revealed that the company’s investments returned 6.6% in the first half of the year.
This represented an increase of 4.7 percentage points from Veritas’ 1.9% return in H1 2025.
In H1 2026, Veritas’ equity investments returned 10.3%, while its fixed income investments returned 2.5%.
The pension insurance company’s real estate assets returned 0.9% in the first half of the year, while its alternative investments returned 4.9%.
The value of its investments at the end of June 2026 amounted to €5.5bn.
Veritas' premium income was estimated to have increased by 1.7% and the TyEL payroll in Veritas' customer companies by 4% in H1.
Its strong equity returns came at “just the right time”, the company said, as the recent reform allowed its exposure to equities in its investment portfolio to be gradually increased.
"We have prepared for the reform and increased the equity weighting at the beginning of the year,” said Veritas CEO, Elina Fogelholm.
“At Veritas, the increase in equity weighting came at exactly the right time, as we have seen a historically strong upswing in the stock market.
“The reform will certainly also have positive effects on the Finnish real estate market, even if the increase in the equity weighting takes capital from other investments in the pension company's portfolio.”
Veritas investment director, Laura Wickström, added: "The return during the second quarter was Veritas' best quarterly return ever.
“In six months, the return from Veritas' investments has exceeded what the investments return in an average year over the entire year.”
