Aon has announced that it will form a new subregion for its operations in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

From 1 September 2024, the new subregion of ‘Benelux’ will come into effect for the consultancy.

The current CEO of Aon Belgium and Luxembourg, Philip Alliet, will lead the new subregion.

Leonique van Houwelingen, who is the current CEO of Aon Netherlands, will remain within the new subregion as senior adviser for Aon Netherlands.

Aon stated that this was to ensure a good transfer to the new Benelux subregion.

It added that the regulatory authorities and the works council have been informed about the change.

Commenting on the announcement, Houwelingen stated: “The upcoming changes have made me decide that it is time to continue as a senior adviser within Aon Netherlands.

“As part of the new subregion, I leave the management of Aon Netherlands in the capable hands of Philip Alliet.

“The successful transformation is a solid foundation to build on. I am very grateful to all my Dutch colleagues, who have made my time as CEO of Aon Netherlands very special and unique.”

Aon Netherlands Supervisory Board chair, Gerard Hoetmer, added: “We are very grateful to Leonique for her commitment, valuable contribution and successful leadership of the team during the transformation that Aon has undergone over the past 20 months.

“We are pleased that she will remain associated with Aon as a senior adviser and will ensure that a good transfer takes place to Philip Alliet, the new CEO of the Benelux subregion."
