Around 45% of European asset managers have already implemented AI solutions or are actively developing applications, research from Coalition Greenwich has revealed.

“European asset managers believe AI’s revolutionary potential is strongest in investment functions like research and idea generation, and in marketing,” Coalition Greenwich, global head of investment management, Mark Buckley, said.

“However, managers also believe the technology will have a major impact across a broad range of functions, from compliance and client service to portfolio optimisation and sales.”

Coalition Greenwich’s latest research also found that more than 90% of European institutional investors consider ESG metrics in their process for making investment decisions and hiring asset managers.

Around a third of European institutions are expecting to significantly increase allocations to private equity or infrastructure equity, and about one in five plan to boost allocations to private debt and infrastructure debt.
