Varma has made a US$40m follow-on investment in quantum computing company, IQM, as part of the firm’s listing in the US.

The Finnish insurer has been an investor in IQM since 2022, and this follow-on investment is part of the insurer’s domestic direct investment strategy.

Founded in 2018, IQM develops and manufactures quantum computers as well as related software and service solutions. The company has delivered quantum computing systems to research institutions, universities, and corporate clients across multiple countries.

“These investments are made selectively in high-quality growth companies with strong international growth potential and the ability to generate significant long-term value, Varma’s head of private equity and debt, Tommi Walther, stated.
