Resolution Life appoints Ruth Farrugia as CIO

Resolution Life has appointed Ruth Farrugia as chief investment officer as part of a planned transition, effective September 2024.

Farrugia is a senior finance executive with over 20 years’ experience in the asset management sector and joins from MetLife Investment Management where she was global head of insurance asset management. In this role, she was responsible for the execution of investment strategies for the MetLife general account and development of strategic solutions for insurance company third party clients.

Prior to this, she held a variety of roles within the investments division at MetLife including head of EMEA portfolio management and head of investments for Western and Central Europe.

Farrugia is succeeding Karl Happe, who was fundamental in initiating and building Resolution Life’s relationship with Blackstone and leading the repositioning of the asset portfolio.
