Japan’s Sompo to acquire Aspen in $3.5bn deal

Japan’s Sompo is to acquire Aspen Insurance for about $3.5bn.

The deal has been unanimously approved by both companies’ boards of directors and is expected to close in H1 2026.

Morgan Stanley acted as exclusive financial adviser to Sompo, with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP serving as legal adviser.

Goldman Sachs served as lead financial adviser to Aspen, with Insurance Advisory Partners serving as financial adviser and Sidley Austin LLP as legal adviser.
