Chief executive officers from AIG, Guardian Life and MetLife are all urging U.S. Congress to certify the electoral results for President-elect Joe Biden.

In a letter addressed to Congress, almost 200 of the US’s top business leaders argued that “attempts to thwart or delay this process run counter to the essential tenets of our democracy”. Michael Khalaf, President & CEO, MetLife, Brian Duperreault, CEO, AIG and Andrew McMahon, President & CEO, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America are part of the signatories.

“Our duly elected leaders deserve the respect and bipartisan support of all Americans at a moment when we are dealing with the worst health and economic crises in modern history,” the letter said.

“There should be no further delay in the orderly transfer of power.”
