Govt bonds form 52.9% of total investments made by Italian insurers

Government bonds formed 52.9% of total investments made by Italian insurers in H1 2020, compared to 52.7% in H1 2019.

In a statistical bulletin published by Italy’s Institute for the Supervision of Insurance (IVASS), figures showed that corporate bonds formed 19.7% from 20% the year before, and UCITS rose from 12.2% to 13% of total investments.

The ratio of own funds to the SCR of Italian companies is equal to 211% (218% in June
2019).

Almost all of the assets covering the SCR are represented by Tier 1 and Tier 2 quality assets. The weight of Tier 3 quality assets is equal to 0.9%, well below the 15% permitted by law.
