Gita Salden has been appointed to the executive board of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) with effect from 1 June 2024.
In her new position, she will be responsible for the supervision of insurers and pension funds, as well as having responsibility for supervision of horizontal functions and integrity.
Dutch Finance Minister, Steven van Weyenberg, nominated Salden on the recommendation of DNB's Supervisory Board. She succeeds Else Bos, who stepped down as board member and chair of supervision on 1 February 2024.
Salden, who is currently CEO of BNG Bank N.V. (BNG Bank), has had a long career in both the public and private sectors. After her positions as head of international economy and financial institutions and head of financial stability at the Ministry of Finance, she was appointed deputy treasurer general in 2011. Since 2018, she has been chairman of the board of BNG Bank. Salden studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
DNB president, Klaas Knot, said: "We are very pleased to welcome Gita Salden to our executive board. Gita brings with her a wealth of social and managerial experience. Her broad knowledge of the financial sector gained at BNG Bank and the Ministry of Finance, will make a valuable contribution to strengthening our supervision."
