Crédit Agricole Assurances has made its first investment in a tokenised financial asset, committing €100m to Amundi Funds Cash EUR, a money market fund managed by Amundi and held in custody by CACEIS.

The transaction marks a significant milestone in the insurer’s efforts to explore tokenised finance and gain practical experience with distributed ledger technology.

The investment brings together three major entities within the Crédit Agricole Group, combining institutional investment expertise, asset management capabilities and digital asset infrastructure. Through this initiative, the partners aim to assess the practical applications of tokenisation and its potential to transform financial market operations over the longer term.

“This first investment in tokenised finance marks a significant step in our innovation and diversification strategy. This transaction allows us to develop concrete expertise in tokenised market infrastructures, their uses, and the opportunities they offer institutional investors. We approach tokenisation by focusing on the robustness of the infrastructures, the quality of the underlying assets, and the ultimate efficiency for our clients. We aim to contribute to the emergence of this new ecosystem,” said Florence Barjou, head of investments at Crédit Agricole Assurances.
