Assets of eurozone insurers valued at €8.3trn

Assets of insurance companies in the eurozone were valued at €8.3trn in Q1 2023, according to figures published by the ECB.

Assets for this insurance group peaked at the end of 2021 at more than €9trn, the ECB’s analysis from Q4 2014 to Q1 2023 showed.

Debt securities owned by insurance companies amounted to €2.8trn, with equities owned valued at €1.2trn.

Total investment fund shares amounted to €2.4trn, with the majority of this value coming from non-money market funds €2.4trn.
