Achmea to invest 10% of own accounts in impact investments by 2025

Achmea is to invest 10% of its own accounts in impact investments by 2025, as part of its updated climate transition plan.

The insurer said it will invest more in companies and projects that generate sustainable energy, such as wind and solar energy, and in sustainable healthcare real estate. In addition, it has tightened the criteria for its investments in fossil fuel companies.

“The transition to a sustainable economy requires active cooperation between governments, the financial sector and the business community,” Achmea said in a statement.

“Only together can we develop solutions for the transition to a sustainable and climate-resilient society. Developments are moving fast. There are always new climate insights, legislation, data and measurement methods. This also creates new insights that can lead to us having to adjust our goals and plans in the meantime. We therefore update this plan annually."
