Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has announced the creation of a new dedicated global SRI equity team as part of its competitive offering in equities.
While the firm already offers several Article 8 as well as Article 6 products, the asset manager said that its new team will be fully dedicated to Sustainable and Responsible Investments (SRI).
This team will be led by Giles Money, who will be joining AllianzGI as CIO of the capability in August. Money has 18 years of investment experience with a strong focus on sustainable investing and joins from J Safra Sarasin Asset Management & Sarasin and Partners, where he managed two flagship global equity and global thematic funds.
Upon his appointment, Money and Alex Bibani, who joined AllianzGI in 2022, will resume the successful investment partnership they had established elsewhere. AllianzGI indicated that its global SRI equity team is expected to collaborate closely with its thematic equity team led by Andreas Fruschki, which has established a suite of SDG-related investments.
Commenting on the appointment and new team, global chief investment officer equity at AllianzGI, Virginie Maisonneuve, said: “I have been fortunate enough to work with Giles before on two occasions, so know first-hand his quality as an investor.
“I am excited to be welcoming him to AllianzGI to lead the new team as we place ever greater emphasis on sustainable investment opportunities for our diverse range of clients. I am confident they will be a success in their own right; complementary to other teams with distinct styles; and positive contributors to the sharing of investment ideas across the platform.”
